Metallica Like You've Never Heard Before!

Metal fans rejoice! It appears that Dave Mustaine will be reuniting with his former band!

Many of you younger metal fans may not be aware, but before the formation of Megadeth, Mustaine was a member of the mighty Metallica. Before Metallica released their first album, Kill'em All, there was a falling out between them. Kirk Hammett would leave an early version of Exodus and take over guitar duties in Metallica. Dave Mustaine would then go on to form Megadeth with its revolving line up of musicians. If you look at the liner notes for that first Metallica album you'll even discover that Mustaine is listed as co-songwriter on a few of them. That list would include the classic track "Four Horsemen" which would also appear in a different version on the debut Megadeth album, Killing is My Business....And Business is Good, but it was called "Mechanix."

Anyway, back to this bombshell, I have seen it reported in various places around the net that James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine are burying the hatchet. Hetfield is quoted as saying "This has gone on for too long, things were crazy back then. Drugs, alcohol, we were all hard partiers. It was a different time. That's behind us, we've matured a lot since those days." On the other side Mustaine seems equally ready to put the past in the past "I was so far down the dark path I didn't see what I had in front of me, of course I did a lot of great stuff with Megadeth, but this is a chance to see what my life could have been like." This is huge, the possibility of hearing Hetfield and Mustaine trade riffs on classic Metallica and Megadeth tracks could become something of legend.

Imagine hearing Hetfield's playing on "Peace Sells," or "Holy Wars." Even better imagine Mustaine being a part of "Sanitarium," or "Enter Sandman." Or, or, I am getting giddy over the possibilities, how about a duet(the metal variety, of course) between the two of them? They each have such distinctive voices.

The good news is tempered by the inability to have that classic Metallica lineup include the late Cliff Burton on bass. He was an amazing talent that will forever be missed. That said, there have been hints that Jason Newsted may be enticed to return to the fold, at least temporarily. As I am writing this, Newsted had not yet been reached for a comment, although Robert Trujillo seems to be OK with the concept saying "I'm still the new kid here." Anyway, it could be interesting. Nobody seems to be talking about Ron McGoveny, who preceded Burton's arrival.

Mustaine was always a WAY better singer than Hetfield. I welcome the reunion.

    LOL
April Fool for sure, there's no way Mustaine is gonna play with Metallica never ever, it's just impossible, Mustaine has Megadeth (superband in my humble opinion, way better than Metallica), there's no reason to re-join them.

Actually I heard Mustaine's Japanese wife has rubbed off on him finally and he's willing to let karma rule.

    I'm looking forward to it.

I believe that Megadeth is scheduled for another breakup. Didn't Mustaine say they were calling it quits at the end of the year?

This one is (really) strangely true. MTV did a blurb on it late last night. I of course smelled a rat but found a statement on Megadeth's site implying it was true.

Then, they took that posting down this morning. Maybe they figured it would be instead considered an April Fools.

    Interesting.....

It would be rather humorous if this actually did happen....

Considering how pants both of their latest releases are...if they all got together it could not be any worse now could it?

Gee, uh, thanks for your words of wisdom. I guess you realized that that is info from Amazon regarding the issue of the CD, but I wouldn't want to give you too much credit. Your mastery of the English language astounds.

Megadeth never sold out. didnt cut of hair to grow pussies like Metallica. Metallica has not sounded any good in 10 years. man they lost somthing when they started to worship their cock god Bob Cock(rock). I tell ya when they put out Load and evrything since i just cringe with dissapointment. Cliff rolling in his grave and fans wondering whats in their fucking water supply. Mustane if you read this or hear bout it concider very carefully your next step.. no one cares for Metallica like before load and any fan left is only hoping the dead horse awakes but we know by now the truth metallica is now defunct and a waste of daves time. Dave should mabe get Hammet to join his megadeath and really show the world who is metal masters and who are the true rock wussies (hetfield/ulrich). spread the word people... some kind of monster???god how fuking dumb!!!

Funny, but impossible. Dave Mustaines habit of being someone impossible to work with (megadeth has a new lineup ervy one or two years, check the site), would completely collide with Lars Ullrichs habit of being a little bitch, and Kirk Hammets habit of being an almost autistic solofreak, incapable of stepping aside for Dave who'd blow him off stage (i'd like to see these two duel and to see Kirk explode in tears after some minutes, realizing his complete incapability to kick ass). Lets face it, it just wouldnt work. The hatchet cant and will never be buried. Megadeth and Metallica have been systematically ignoring eachother, for years, and for the better.
Personally i dont like one of the bands, really. Both have been totally incapable of releasing any worthwile material for the past decade, although i would take dave mustaines screeching voice over the linkinparklike faillure that was Saint Anger.

Ladies and gentlemen, rock is fucking dead, and there is no need to make its corpse dance for publicity. All the great bands of old, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Van Halen, GnR, Gwar, Wasp etc... have all died or aimlessly shamble around like zombies preying on retrospective longhairs who have been thrown in Russian time machines in 1989. And yes, i DO blaim Kurt Cobain for this, but without him, rock would have been murdered a year later by other random stoners.

Metallica are the best band, im not some fan whos stuck in the past, Ive got long hair, really long hair and play solos all day but I dont bitch about Metallica cutting their hair they can do what they want, as for Muistane in metallica again, that'd be shit. O kay i aknowledge his input into early metallica but times change. Kirk is a way better lead guitarist than Muistane and name one song in the Megadeth back catalouge that comes close to the speed of battery. Watch cliff em all the only song with an awful solo in it is wiplash... the one with dave playin. Megadeth is really a Dave Muistane Solo Band

Dude all you people are idiots talking about all this. What do you think 30 yes from now your dicks are gonna be what it is now. NO. Ths what happened to all the bands allright. Writing music is hard enough. But like writing the same type of shit over and over again for 30 years is like impossible. So yea bands got fucked, just listen to their old stuff and wank off at leisure. Some dude was right in saying that Mustaine will kick Hammetts ass. I just agreee with that. But dont try and compare bands. Its lame. Yea and dont talk about like yea what if Metallica played with Megadeth. Dude seriously, I was like shocked to read all your comments. What are you ppl. fucking hell, like the most pathetic critics i have ever seen. if u wanna say why a song is crap give some detail man like the riff is not timed or the snares are too far out or something. dont like go yea mustaine kicks ass. dude even john petruicci kicks ass. so yea stop being lame and be metal. grow some hair. metallica cut their hair off cos they wanted to allright. none of your business. so yea i dont really give a shit if some1 calls me gay cos i paid all of you out. so yea even if you do write it, save your fingers cos ill be like never on this website ever again.
