Mel C dropped

Virgin Records confirmed speculation yesterday that they are parting company with Melanie C. That means they have now dropped all the former Spice Girls - Emma Bunton and Mel B were dropped in 2001 and Victoria Beckham in 2002. Geri is still signed to sister label EMI.

Announcing Mel C's departure Virgin told reporters: "We can confirm that Melanie is no longer with Virgin Records. We were having discussions over the last few months but all agreed it was best to part ways. Melanie began work on new songs before Christmas and will continue writing when she returns from her holidays. Melanie wants to release her own records in future and will not be looking to sign a new deal."

All these ex-Spice Girls just have too many fucking names - can't keep track of them - that's the problem.

Should officially change their names to "Sporty spice", "Ginger spice" etc.

I think their original Spice names were Squirmy Spice, Squat Spice, Silicone Spice, Spreadin' Spice, and Spermie Spice, but they were forced to change before they could get signed to a label. That's what I heard, anyway -- I think. I probably should have done some research on this.

Emma Bunton (Baby Spice, though she's had no babies) was featured on the recent series of Absolutely Fabulous as the only client of Edwina Monsoon. Elton John was also featured, so what does that say about him?

I Just Can't Help Myself Dept.: I have
seen the Spice Girls movie 4 or 5 times
on cable and I really enjoy it in a sort
of can't help but look kind of way.My
taste in cinema definitely leans more
    towards German Expressionism, Film Noir
and classic horror flicks from the 30's
    & 40's(Universal),but I find this movie
to be immensely entertaining.I guess the
brain just craves junk food once in a
    while,what can I say?
