It seems that usually the best movies have the worst soundtracks. Or bad movies have great soundtracks. One fine exception to this is the "O Brother, Where Art Thou" phenomonon.
The "Reloaded" soundtrack comes nowhere near that. The list of artists featured is pretty much a yawn-fest. A previously released Linkin Park song kicks things off, and promptly inspire hitting the "skip" button on the cd player. Track two is a Marilyn Manson ditty. While I am greatly opposed to Manson and his music, I can at least listen to the entire song. It's fun to drive too. The Rob Zombie sludge is also listenable, but nothing to get excited about.
Enough of the "metal" end for the moment. Rob Dougan spices things up with a techno track. This is the first track that makes me say, "Awwwe yeah!" Thankfully, it won't be the last, either.
The Deftones follow with another pleasant song, however, it's not the best thing they've done. Some group called Team Sleep offers up another techno deal that is nice. Then POD crash through with a very good song (which I believe features their new guitar player, though I could be mistaken). It's more metal than "Satellite" and really grooves. Then there are several other tracks. They are average and nothing special, with the exception of the last track, a Paul Oakenfold remix of a Dave Matthews Band tune, "When The World Ends." It is a haunting way to finnish off the cd.
But this is a two cd set, so the music has only just began. Disc two is overall better. It seems to act more as the instrumental music which was in the movie. It features 7 delightful techno and orchestrated songs. They range between just under 2 minutes to just over 17 minutes in length.
If you aren't a fan of the featured artists on disc one, but are fond of the instrumental music of The Matrix, you may do well to buy this, but don't pay too much for it. If you are a fan of the artists, picking this cd up won't hurt. Personally, I will find that disc one will mainly be played in the car while driving. Disc two is will probably end up being the occational background music while I'm on the computer.

Disc two is much better, and I've been running it in my truck for a couple of days. Manson did This is the new sh... on Jimmy Kimmel friday night, and it was not any better live than on disc one. Yawn.
