Metalmania: 2007
From the start, this DVD is a corker with three tracks from those lovable Finnish pagan metal loons Korpliklanni with their power metal meets folk music onslaught. You think accordions are for wimps... they are so metal. Then to end the whole thing you have the classic line-up of Testament showing all the younger thrashers how it's actually done with aplomb. Then you have a whole myriad of European festival touring dogs with a eleven track CD extra to boot with bands like TYR and Witchking.
Better than the previous version; there is something for every kind of metal fan you can think of on here. And it gets it just right so you wish you were there. You want to know what is going on in Eurometal; then this is the DVD to seek out.
Gigantour: 2
Dave Mustaine's merry band of metal bands marked on this concert DVD. You get tracks from Megadeth naturally, including a cracking bonus of "Wake Up Dead" along with prog-metal gods Opeth. With tracks from Arch Enemy and the mighty Overkill you can't really go wrong. There are a few bands lower down the order that you might have heard of or might not and there is always Lamb of God.
A fitting compilation, with the normal extras, of Dave's mighty metal trek across the world. If you are worried about the sound it was mixed by the mighty producer Andy Sneap.
Attitude for Destruction
Every so often someone gets an idea to do a cheesy horror flick involving metal or hard rock. We have had Black Roses and Trick or Treat (which featured cameos by Gene Simmons & Ozzy) back in the 80s. Now its time for the Sunset Strip to get a tale of murder, deals with the devil and revenge. As you can tell from the name of the movie; its done in the style of Guns 'n' Roses with the band at the centre called Hollywood Roses. Not exactly much of an original plot, it has to be said.
Methinks this is one for a drunken night in; sometime around January when you are sick of all the rubbish on TV.
Well that is your first set of music DVDs. As always stay rocking and safe.
