Microsoft drops price of Zune music player

Microsoft has announced that it is cutting the price of its Zune music player. Microsoft will be cutting the price of its 30GB player by $50 bringing the cost of it down to $199. Although Microsoft says that this price cut has been something that they have been expecting to do for a long while, it appears that the announcement was timed to coincide with the unveiling of Apple's new iPods. There is also a rumor that Microsoft may be looking to buy RIM, the makers of the BlackBerry phone and that they may be considering launching its own mobile handset in the future.
