Luciano Pavarotti has died at age 71
Luciano Pavarotti died early on Thursday in his hometown of Modena, Italy at the age of 71 of pancreatic cancer. Admirers and fans have gathered in the main piazza of Modena in order to pay respects to the Italian tenor who has been called the "last, great voice" of Italian Opera. The funeral service for Pavarotti will be held in Modena on Saturday.
Apple to give angry iPhone owners $100 credit
Apple has announced that it will be giving iPhone owners after many of the initial buyers expressed anger and frustration at the company's decision to cut the price of the smart phone. Apple cut the prices of the 8GB iPhone on Wednesday in addition to unveiling a revamped iPod line. Jobs has posted an open letter on Apple's website stating that he was sorry for disappointing customers and also offering the $100 credit towards any Apple product to customers who had not already received a rebate.
Microsoft drops price of Zune music player
Microsoft has announced that it is cutting the price of its Zune music player. Microsoft will be cutting the price of its 30GB player by $50 bringing the cost of it down to $199. Although Microsoft says that this price cut has been something that they have been expecting to do for a long while, it appears that the announcement was timed to coincide with the unveiling of Apple's new iPods. There is also a rumor that Microsoft may be looking to buy RIM, the makers of the BlackBerry phone and that they may be considering launching its own mobile handset in the future.
