Many of the victims had non-existent imaginary trials in which they were sentenced to death. One of the documents was a June 14, 1984 ruling by the Revolutionary Court sentencing to death 148 people from Dujail. Saddam allegedly signed the death warrant two days later; however no transcripts of the victims’ testimony exist indicating that there was no trial. As many as 96 or the 148 died during interrogations and a 1984 document reflects that many died or were liquidated during interrogation. The remaining 52 were executed as ordered.
