Live Earth has announced that it will be hosting a show in Istanbul, Turkey. Instanbul will join the cities of London, Shanghai, Sydney, Tokyo, New York, Rio de Janiero, Johannesburg and Hamburg on July 7th in the simultaneous concerts. A lineup for the Istanbul show has not been announced, but they have said it will include international and Turkish acts.
Smashing Pumpkins announce residencies
The Smashing Pumpkins have added some performances to their summer schedule. The band will have residencies in two cities this summer alongside a few festival performances. The band will play dates in Asheville, North Carolina (June 24, 26-27, 29-30, July 2-3, 5) and in San Francisco (July 22, 24-25, 27-28, 30, Aug. 1 ). Their comeback album is due out on July 7th and entitled Zeitgeist. The official lineup of the band has not been confirmed, althought it currently includes Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain.
Myspace.com asked to hand over sex offender names
A number of state attorneys general have requested that myspace.com provide them with the names of sexual offenders who use the website. In a move that they say will protect children from sexual offenders because predators can use the site to groom several children at a time. The attorneys would use the information to contact children that had been in touch with sexual offenders to see if crimes had been committed.
