Lil’ Kim is Going to Jail. Sources Say “Several Years” Likely

Author: JustMePublished: Mar 18, 2005 at 3:43 pm 36 comments

Lil’ Kim is on her way to jail thanks to her conviction yesterday on three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy surrounding a shootout at Hot 97 in New York. The shootout involved her manager and another friend, and Lil' Kim is in trouble for telling a federal grand jury that she didn't notice them at the scene of the crime. She faces five years for each count, and sources say she’s likely to get a good chunk of her maximum sentence—up to 20 years.

If she does a single day more than Miss Martha Stewart, I’m gonna be mad as hell! Martha only did five months on a four-count conviction for obstruction of justice and lying to federal authorities. If Lil’ Kim ain’t out by Christmas, I’m gonna be pissed.

Now, please don’t get me wrong. I am, IN NO WAY, a Lil’ Kim fan. Never have been…and never will be. But one thing I hate more than her senseless lyrics and Happy Ho attitude is some more racist bullshit from this country.

Lil’ Kim and Miss Martha are guilty of the same crime…not knowing when to tell the truth. The circumstances surrounding the lie are irrelevant from a legal standpoint. The only crime was telling the lie. Therefore, Lil’ Kim should enjoy the same leniency that Martha got.

But as I type this post, I know as well as all of you that Lil’ Kim will probably get a lot more time than Martha. Martha is a rich white woman. Lil’ Kim is a former hood-rat turned rich-black-woman. Martha knits and crochets. Lil’ Kim is most known for popping her coochie. Martha is a white woman’s idol. Lil’ Kim is…well…Lil’ Kim.

Her sentencing is scheduled for June 24, so it remains to be seen whether or not I’m right about all this. But, I feel completely confident that this situation will once again reveal the ugly double standard of American society when it comes to issues of crime and race. You can get away with a helluva lot more with white skin than you can being a ghetto girl who has obviously worked her ass off (regardless of whether she was lying on her back at the time) to get where she is today. Blacks and lengthy jail time go hand-in-hand in the U-S-of-A. So, I don’t think we’ll be hearing much from the Queen Bee for quite some time.

I hope I’m wrong for Lil’ Kim’s sake. We shall revisit this point on June 25 and see…

thanks JM and nice to see you! I think your take is just right and the crime is essentially the same, although there may be some weight given to Kim's issue involving a violent assault

I failed to see any media report insinuating anything near to the effect that Lil Kim had even the slightest participation in ANY "violent assault" ~
Did she INSTIGATE the shootout where some 30 rounds from 6 various pistols were fired?

She hypnotized all 6 shooters and MADE them shoot their guns---

    She lied-----Martha lied----
    What's the big deal ...???

The big deal is she's Lil Kim and she's black.

On the other hand... both OJ and Robert Blake got off. Justice was race-blind in that case

Eric: I thought about the associated "violent assault," but there was never any indication that she was connected to the shooting. The only thing they've got her on is not wanting to go blabbing to the authorities. What she did may not be right, but she had better not be looking at time beyond Martha's incarceration term. That just wouldn't be right.

Tristan: You're right. The biggest issue in this case is her race and what she's known for. And in a criminal system where justice is supposed to be the biggest priority, I see no justice if they lock her up for a lie for 20 years.

Jon: I didn't follow the Robert Blake case, so I won't comment on that one. However, with regard to OJ, the prosecution shouldn't have put together a manslaughter case on a charge of first degree murder. OJ got off because he had a damn good lawyer who went up against a team of prosecutors who thought that you could still simply convict a black man for the slightest implication of wrong doing when it comes to a white victim. The prosecutors didn't do their homework, and Johnny Cochran did. That's all there is to it.

I agree that if Lil Kim and Martha's crimes are equal under the law and Lil Kim gets years when Martha got months, you can say race is likely playing a factor.

That said, I'm really not too sympathetic to someone who lives in a world like this:

The shootout occurred outside WQHT, a.k.a. Hot 97, when Lil' Kim's entourage crossed paths with a rival rap group, Capone-N-Noreaga. Kim's entourage confronted them about the song "Bang, Bang" from a Capone-N-Noreaga album, which contained a scathing insult to Kim from her longtime rival, Foxy Brown. A shootout erupted, leaving one man injured and more than two dozen rounds fired.

"Rival" rap groups, using songs to hurl personal insults in a public way, shootings and murders to show you deserve respect .... It's all such bullshit. It's childish and violent and deadly, and anyone even remotely involved in this crap should be sitting in front of a jury.

Wow. I'm surprised at the length of time she's facing. I like Lil' Kim, hoodrat or not, but she didn't play her cards right. She was caught on camera and still denied the charges, right? She should know that money or not, the justice system still sees us a niggas.

JM, I think your assessment of the OJ case is exactly right, although I don't think it was due to race that the prosecution underestimated their task.

Regarding Kim, I didn't mean that she was directly involved in the violence, but that the nature of her case was tinted by the fact that she lied about a violent crime as opposed to Stewart lying about a securities exchange.

Lil Kim is a stank ass ho, she represents the very worst of African American culture.

Here are some of the whore's accomplishments: Arrested for marijuana possession; stomach pumped because she swallowed so much cum, flashed her minge at a concert, flashes her silicon-enhanced breasts every chance she gets, bragging about what a ho she is.

All those fine African Americans who defend Lil Kim are idiots. I hope their daughters imitate Lil Kim and smoke week, whore around and suck di** like it be going out of style in the ghetto.

In prison, Lil Kim won't be the Queen Bee, she will be just another ignorant nigga.

Don't even compare the negro Lil Kim with Martha Stewart. Martha is an intelligent, hardworking self-made billionare. Lil Kim is just another stupid, vulgar, whorish African American slut.

Here's one white guy who will be smoking a big ole cigar in celebration when that black whore is carted off to prison.

Well that was one angry white dude I would say!! Lil Kim will get what she deserves for flipping off the justice system. Period. IMHO -- She made her karma now it caught up with her. - zzb

I dont' hear anyone defending Little Kim per se, simply saying there are still discrepancies in the justice system if she gets a long sentence for a crime that got Martha 5 months (plus additional "house arrest," but she's allowed to go to work)

I don't know the specifics of the lil Kim case beyond what is pointed out here, but it sounds like her stuff isn't comparable to martha's.

Both might have lied to investigators, but it sounds like one was over a 3,000 dollar stock trade and one was over a shooting of another human being.

    The post says:
The circumstances surrounding the lie are irrelevant from a legal standpoint.

I don't know if that's true or not, but I certainly hope it is not true. I would hate to think that a person who lies to get out of paying a few thousand in taxes is not punished the same as a person who lies so a terrorist can succeed in his plans.

Context is everything, when we just follow the letter of the law and don't look at the human element, the circumstances, and most importantly the intent, that is when our justice system begins to fail us.

"is not punished" should be "is punished"

Wow...interesting comments from all, but I have some specific words for a few.

First off, Kerry White...don't get beside yourself. White guys and the 'N' word--whether ending in the 'a' or the 'er' is NEVER acceptable. Don't mute an otherwise decent point by pissing folks off.

Steve: I hear you, but a charge is a charge. You simply wouldn't charge a terrorist or potential terrorist with the same charge as someone who failed to pay their taxes. You wouldn't charge a serial killer for manslaughter. Don't get the situation twisted. She didn't give anybody a gun. She didn't get into an argument with somebody carrying a gun. She didn't get into an argument or participate in the "violent assault" in ANY shape, form or fashion. What she did was simply tell authorities that she did not witness the shooters at the scene of the crime.

Lil Kim may be a whore. I certainly wouldn't invite her to my house to hang out. She couldn't be my friend and she is an embarrassment to women of all races.

HOWEVER, all of those things I've just said about her represent nothing more than my OPINION, which happens to be shared by many others. Just because I think she is a "stank ho" does not mean she deserves to go to jail for an inappropriate amount of time. Justice is not about whether you like somebody or not. And if you think it is, wait until somebody of authority decides they don't like you, and tell me whether or not you appreciate that kind of justice.

Remember folks, this is not about whether or not we think this chick has talent or whether or not she deserves the sad version of fame she currently enjoys. This is about the criminal charge of lying to authorities to protect someone else who violated a law. Once you consider the circumstances (violent assault v. insider trading), it doesn't matter. If we were supposed to consider anything more than the lie itself, then we'd be looking at different charges. Incidently, Martha got four counts of obstruction of justice, which I think is a more serious charge than the perjury charges for Lil Kim. That said, we'll see how this all turns out.

Thanks again to all for the fantastic conversation!

I dont believe its a race thing. Its a lieing about a crime thing. If she hadnt lied, she wudnt be being sent down in the 1st place. With OJ's lawyer being so great y cudnt he of just lent him to Lil'Kim, that wud have proved her innocence ryt, surely, solved all the problems? Its to easy to bring race into something. But then again Im white and british so what the hell do i know about racial issues right? Jacko got away with what he suposedly did so that must be because he was black but is now white in appearence, ryt?
