Libertines Live Acoustic Performances Online

Over at Rolling Stone right now, The Duke is euphoric to announce, there are no less than three specially-recorded acoustic tracks from certified Duke's Current Favourite Band, The Libertines. The three videos consist of acoustic performances by Carl Barat of two numbers from the amazing New Album, as well as Time For Heroes from the Up The Brackett debut.

They are, The Duke feels compelled to relate, rather moving performances, especially the one of current single Can't Stand Me Now, sung on the album by both Barat and missing-in-action co-frontman Pete Doherty. Seeing as how the track serves as a summary of the relationship between the two thus far, Barat's solo rendition is enough to make a man all weighty around the throat.

Also included is France, a hidden track from the new album, performed on record by Barat and his acoustic, as in this live performance.

You can check out these three performances, as well as the video for Can't Stand Me Now HERE, and see why The Duke wants nothing less than to embrace these fellas and say about "You know the score, is what."

These performances obviously came about on account of the forthcoming tour of America, the dates for which are as follows. Do yourself a favour and see these fellas.

Thanks folks.

Of course, knowing the Libertines, these tour dates are assuming that they can actually get their act together (mostly Pete, really) and pull off a series of mishap-free shows. I know I'll be first in line to buy tickets to the Boston show if they manage to make it that far, though!

Bryan, I'd imagine there'll be no problems. Pete isn't "officially" part of the band at the minute, on account of the crack habit. Also, he's about to face trial for a "dangerous weapons" charge, so could very possibly be in jail before the weeks out. Which is very, very sad.

For the folks who are wondering what the hell these Libertines cats sound like, and why they've got The Duke in all of a tizzy and so on, The MP3 of the day over at my site, Mondo Irlando

is one of the best tracks from their debut record. You'll see it under the "other shit" section on the front page, linked above. It'll only be there till about Monday (tomorow) evening though, on account of the law and what not. Incidentally, am i breaking the law?

Great track, Duke. Personally I think "Tell the King" is my favorite. It's so hard to decide with them all being so damn brilliant. Certainly one of the best debut records in a long while. I can't wait until Tuesday to pick up their new album. Damn you Europeans for getting it a day ahead, and damn you, Duke, for getting the advance review copy! I'm jealous!

Thanks Bryan! I had a bit of a dilemma deciding what one to go for. It was ALMOST "the boy looked at Johnny". Almost.
Incidentally, the review thingy didn't arrive through the blogcritics channels. I think maybe Tom Johnson got the BC one. Plus, i still bought a copy anyway (my mum works in a record store, so i got to buy it on friday.) Every little counts, and all that.

Thanks man. I look forward to hearing what you think of the new record.

I'm watching In Bed With Madonna at the minute (i think it was called Truth Or Dare in the US). gonna have to write me up a post on that one. Definately eligible for the Mondo Irlando Classics Of Cinema honour. What a brilliant bloody film.
