Lady Gaga Releases "Born This Way"

Pop icon Lady Gaga will release today, Friday, February 11th, her much anticipated new single “Born This Way”. The Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow co-produced the future hit that is Gaga’s first single and title track from her forthcoming studio album, also called Born This Way, which will arrive in stores on May 23rd.

“Born This Way” was set to world premiere on Sunday night; with Gaga first performing it live at the 53rd Grammy Awards and then following with the iTunes release. Born This Way coverHowever, Mother Monster, in a caring act (as she does not want to see her ‘offspring’ suffering any longer), took to her Twitter account this week to announce the ‘push forward’ of the “Born This Way” release. Thus, the track hit radio airwaves worldwide today at 6 a.m (EST) / 11 a.m (GTMT).

The hype on the upcoming Lady Gaga release is so ridiculous that even artist of the magnitude of Elton John felt the need to say something. “'Born This Way' [...] will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’. This is the new ‘I Will Survive’. That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem”, said the “Your Song” singer. Some big shoes to fill in, right?

Normally, I’d doubt anyone asserting such words but it’s Elton John we’re talking about here. The "gay anthem" was confirmed when the song’s lyrics were released by Lady Gaga earlier this week. Just take a look. “No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive”. Just picture Lady Gaga singing those lyrics with a powerful voice and a killer dance/techno beat—add some dubstep—and playing in the background. Can you feel it? Can you hear it? I’d say yes, Gloria Gaynor’s wig is about to get snatched! Prepare for an Internet collapse as “Born This Way” premieres.

And just when you think no other song will compare to “Born This Way”, Lady Gaga will bombard you with the next official single, entitled “Judas”, which she confirmed in a recent new interview with Vogue USA magazine. The song has been described as having a “sledgehammering dance beat and is about falling in love with backstabbing men of the biblical variety”. It seems to me 2011 will be a year full of Lady Gaga hits: one after the other. Ready to hit the dancefloor?
