Killing Joke
(Epic)
Jaz and the boys are back to show the young uns' how to make angry industrial metal. Instead of the dull plod around these days, KJ produce 'rockus' metal that kicks you in the arse. Its never unlistenable noise, it's catchy while being aggressive and angry (Metallica take note). Like the new Voivod, this is a great return to form for a great band. You can see why this band has been such an influence to the alternative and nu-metal scene, even though this is more progressive industrial than noise-terror. Marilyn Manson becomes a distant memory once this lot hit the ole 'death-deck'. There isn't a duff track on here from beginning to end, and you even get a 'Wardance' as a bonus track. Dave Grohl, drumming whore of the Foo Fighters, does the skins on this. If you like death, industrial, and even dark wave, this is an essential purchase. Never has angst been delivered with such clarity and class.
