I am a snob. I know that I am a snob and I am okay with it. I refuse to watch movies that get low scores on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I go out of my way to avoid books with low ratings on Goodreads. I don't listen to a lot of music because I believe myself to be too good for it.
But I am a genuine fan of Ke$ha. I see so much hate for her: “She is ruining modern pop”; “She is the reason that music is so stupid today”; “Ke$ha is garbage.” And I cannot understand why people rail so hard against her. I do not believe that she has ever set out to create deep, beautiful albums about love and loss and hardship and travesty; it has always been her goal to sing songs about having fun and dancing, right?
And I think she does this excellently. People who deny that a Ke$ha song has been stuck in their heads are lying. They are infectious and glitzy and make me want to dance. So what if her voice isn’t operatic, Céline Dion caliber? Isn’t it a good thing that Céline makes music that showcases her vocal acrobatics and not Ke$ha-style music where she wouldn’t get to demonstrate her abilities at all? It would be a waste of talent for someone with a powerful voice to make dance-pop.
There, I said it: I like Ke$ha for her danceable, carefree pop. Sit back and enjoy the (somewhat) overproduced ride and appreciate that Ke$ha is just having fun.

When Kesha does do songs about love and loss, they are beautiful and emotional. I love her voice though. It's very peaceful and soothing on her slow songs. And the fact that she can sing pop, rock, country, R&B and folk, and still do rap and electro says a lot about her versatility. Celine Dion doesn't have the kind of versatility Kesha has. Did Celine even write her own songs like Kesha does? There's more to being an artist than having the best voice.

I'm not so sure that avoiding movies with low Fresh ratings constitutes snobbery. It's more that you're willing to let other people do your thinking for you.

By the way, there's just as many people who bag on Celine Dion for being a vapid non-artist as there are who can't stand Kesha. Probably more, in fact.
Basically, your argument boils down to" "Kesha has low ambitions, therefore she's beyond criticism." Why should that be the case?
At any rate, some of "hate" you see her getting - which you cannot fathom - comes from people who share a similar attitude as the one you've admitted to here: judging a book by its cover.
