Katell Keineg, "Shaking the Disease"

The title track of SHAKING THE DISEASE, a three-song "CD single" from the Dublin-based, Welsh-Breton singer Katell Keineg, is one of the most delightfully energetic numbers she's ever done. Where many artists mellow with age, on the evidence of "Shaking the Disease" it's clearthat Keineg's songwriting is as strong and sophisticated as ever, and her songs have always been a big part of the reason she is just about my favorite singer in the whole darn world. (The New Yorker calls her voice "a beautiful and wild force of nature," and it's true.)

The CD also contains the lovely, Nick Drake-ish ballad "Summer St." and an amusing cover of The Passions' "I'm In Love With a German Film Star." It leaves me anxious for the full-length CD that's supposed to come out later this year.

Here's a link to my review of Katell's previous, somewhat more substantial EP.
