Brett Detar has played a lot of different styles in a lot of different bands.
When I first happened to come across the Juliana Theory, I was impressed. Here was a guy who had done emo-core (Pensive), metal (zao), and now, with the Juliana Theory, straight up rock and roll, and he seemed to fit in every mold. This was when I heard their first Tooth and Nail album, Understand This Is A Dream. Then came Emotion is Dead, their sophomore Tooth and Nail release. This disc soon became one of my all time favorite emo discs, and has since had to be replaced because of excessive rotation in my player. Then the unspeakable happened—Music from Another Room EP came out and it was horrible---really horrible.
Thus was my progressive love/hate relationship with the band The Juliana Theory, and now I can tell you what I think about their major label debut, Love.
There is nothing new on this album. In fact, there is nothing even remotely resembling a new sound, riff or beat. Love is a mediocre CD by a great band—unfortunately, with this being the majors now, I’m not sure that mass culture is going to accept these rockers into the proverbial “fold” of recent emo stars.
If you are a diehard fan of The Juliana Theory, go and buy this album. If you are new to this band, go and buy Emotion is Dead and gain an appreciation for how good these guys are. Then go and buy Love. The average price range for this disc, no matter where you go, is $7-$12. Not a bad investment for over 50 minutes of music.

The Juliana Theory lived in my neighborhood...they are by far the greatest band ever...especially whenever you hear the great stories from their family members of how hard they worked, you will learn to appreciate them.

Jeff Petermann, u apparently know nothing about music if you consider Love to be nothing new. I don't know if u listened to the album once or 30 times, but saying it's nothing new is just plain retarded.
