Jack White Unveils New Project

Raconteurs and White Stripes frontman, Jack White, has never been one to rest on his laurels. Now, the singer/guitarist has announced his latest project, and his rather surprising role within the new ensemble - The Dead Weather.

The band have all the makings of an indie-rock supergroup; featuring singer Allison Mosshart of indie-blues duo The Kills, Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertita, and White's fellow Raconteur Jack Lawrence on bass. Where does White fit into this impressive line-up I hear you ask? He's the drummer, of course!

White starting his musical career as a drummer; it may seem like a step back, or at least a bizarre leap sideways, for the acclaimed guitarist to place himself in such a low-key role. However, speaking to Rolling Stone magazine this month, White explained: "I produced the record from the drummer's seat, which is a new angle for me."

Always an innovative presence, White consistently manages to experiment with different sounds in different groups, whilst maintaining a sense of cohesion and artistic development. As he told Rolling Stone, "It's very dark, very dangerous. There are synthesizers and acoustic instruments treated so they don't sound like themselves anymore."

The band have been working tirelessly on their debut record; entitled Horehound, due for release in June, and are preparing for a summer tour.
