iTunes Chart Watch: Third Eye Blind Tops Albums Chart?

Part of: iTunes Chart Watch

This week's singles chart is nearly identical to last week's so we're scrounging when it comes to looking for something to talk about. I'm not going to bag on the Disney kids, but I did find out what the Disney Friends For Change is all about. My intuition was right: the Disney kids are not Republicans. Well, the Disney Friends For Change aren't. At least not publicly. They could be closet John Birchers. I just don't know. If you're curious, Disney Friends For Change relates to an environmental awareness/activist campaign. I'm sure the song would make me want to buy a fleet of Hummers to drive simultaneously while also dumping toxic waste in every body of water I could find.

On a more positive note, it's nice to talk about Rihanna in the context of a hit song rather for a change, particularly in a week where her assailant, Chris Brown, is being sentenced.

The only change from last week is that Shakira is now on top of Taylor Swift rather than the other way around. I'll let you pervs enjoy that mental imagery for a minute...

iTunes' top 10 selling singles of the week ending Aug. 24, 2009

  2. "I Gotta Feeling," Black Eyed Peas
  3. "Run This Town (feat. Rihanna & Kanye West)," Jay-Z
  4. "Down," Jay Sean
  5. "Use Somebody," Kings of Leon
  6. "Good Girls Go Bad (feat. Leighton Meester)," Cobra Starship
  7. "Send It On (feat. Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus & Selena Gomez)," Disney's Friends for Change
  8. Hotel Room Service," Pitbull
  9. "She Wolf," Shakira
  10. "You Belong With Me," Taylor Swift

Holy shit! Third Eye Blind has a #1 album? Did I just get 10 years younger? Come on everyone! “Doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo, semi-charmed kind of life.” I'm back in college. I'm thin! I'm... not proud to admit I actually bought a Third Eye Blind record. Yeah, that wore real thin. It's still sitting in a used CD store bin somewhere, I'm sure. Or maybe not. Even bad music can make you feel nostalgic, I guess. What's next? A Creed reunion tour? Damn it!
