iTunes Chart Watch: Ke$ha, Owl City End The Year at #1

Part of: iTunes Chart Watch

It's our final iTunes Chart Watch for 2009, and it ends with Ke$ha and Owl City at the top of the singles and albums charts, respectively.

I angered Owl City fans earlier this year and I don't feel a bit bad about it.  What I do feel bad about is taunting my niece when I found out she got the CD for Christmas.  I shouldn't have teased her but I feel like I've failed her.  She likes that song.  What kind of uncle am I where I can allow something like that to happen?  I fear for the younger generation.  It's a good thing 2009 is coming to a close.  For the first time in a few years I'm actually considering writing some New Year's Resolutions and tracking my progress.  This might be an area I address.  I need to save as many of the younger generation as possible, but I'm only one man!

The iTunes charts usually seem to trend a little younger and it's no surprise that would be the case looking at some of these singles and albums.  Unless I miss my guess, a lot of these were purchased with gift cards given as Christmas presents.  I can't do anything about parental supervision, but these charts would look different if I could.
