In the wise words of Jay Zee there is no black music or white music just good or bad music.

As a black woman I say we need to bridge a divide by not terming music by it's colour. I find the term black music disturbing also, is it inverted racism to be so proud of what others of your colour have achieved possibly.
If the audience prefer to hear or see a white singer well what can anyone do. I say relax and focus on creating or listening to what you enjoy. stuff how popular anything is - most of the very popular music isn't that good or original anyway. Focus on the positive not the imperfections of society. Things are mostly ok. Think Barack Obama 'Yes we can' that's the attitude that will get you into the mainstream. Lamenting your lot, about how you have no chance how everyones a racist won't get you anywhere keep positive and don't listen to the blanket negativity about everything being racist or about race. It just isn't anymore - although I accept complete equality isn't here just yet for women or for minority ethnic groups black or otherwise.
People generally black or white aren't out to get you or do you down don't believe they are.
