[Craig] Unless you are really listening for it, or someone has seen you guys live, it is sometimes hard to tell which one of you (Toby or Devin) is singing the lead melody. How did you decide to go with rotating lead singer and harmonies? Do you guys sing your own words or does it sometimes happen that one writes words that the other ends up singing?
[Toby Morrell] Well it kind of depends on who writes the songs and lyrics, I sing on the ones I write and Devin sings on the lyrics he writes.
[Craig] In Cleveland the keyboard player ran into the audience and grabbed me by my shirt (don't worry, I am ok.) and screamed his lyrics into my face. When he wasn't doing that, he was holding his keyboard in the air and shaking it like someone trying to clear an etch-a-sketch. Usually a keyboard player stands in the back and hides from the audience. Where did you find a guy as insane as Josh Head?
[Toby Morrell] We met him when we moved to Seattle and he needed a job. He actually had never played keys before so on stage he is actaully mad at how hard it is to play the piano and takes his frustrations out by smashing the keyboard.
[Craig] What were some of the highlights from the tour with The Beautiful Mistake, etc.?
[Toby Morrell] We made the most friends ever.
[Craig] I know you guys are very open about your faith. Please tell me a little bit about the relationship of your faith to your music.
[Toby Morrell] We feel that no matter what our songs are about, that they can honor God.
[Craig] Onstage in Cleveland you talked for a moment about your faith and said something like, "We aren't up here to say that we are right and anyone else is wrong, but that we should all be friends, because that is what it's all about anyway. Right?"
