Grassroots Effort to Save the Bottom Line

A few weeks ago, I noted that the Bottom Line, one of New York's more historically important nightclubs, was in danger of closing, since they are many months behind on their rent.

Witness the power of the grassroots! Jeff Lang, a New York University alumnus, has begun a petition drive to persuade NYU (The Bottom Line's landlords) to spare the venue. You can see the petition and further information at savethebottomline.com. Alumni of NYU can petition here, the rest of us can go through the main page.

Let me reiterate what I commented at the time: although the club is no longer its legendary self, it's still a great place to see music. Hopefully this situation will be a wake-up call and send the venue on the road to better booking, better artist relations, and better days.
