Get Animal
"Get Animal"
SPV/Steamhammer GmBh
Ex- Adam Bomb guitarist, Pink, is back with a pretty damn good Brit-Pop album. Hailing from New York, but on a German label, this album has some catchy tunes and some others that take a bit of time to get into. One good sign for the band is that a mate of mine that was on holiday day here, that is a Blur/Oasis fan, was really keen on some of the tracks on this CD.
One of the standout tracks, coincidentally the first single, is the catchy as hell "Swingin' on a Star." With its Oasis like chorus and guitar, "Swingin'" sticks in your head like a good pop song should. The b-side of the single is their cover of Gary "Pederast" Glitter's "Leader of the Gang"/"Bloodbath" also taken from the album. This kicking rendition captures the glam of the Glitter Band at its best. "Shotgun (Saturday Night)", "Crash Boom Bam" and "Hey Hey Nothin'" stand-out as well.
The album thank yous include Tommy Thayer, so Get Animal share some good
company. The only problem with this band is the lame name, although I kinda like their crossed swords/guitar with a Latin motto and two Chihuahuas logo. This album is something that will grow on you. I recommend it as something to listen to when you want something a bit different. This is one of those that does not impress at first listen but grows on you with each listen.
