The Gorillaz have announced that they will play shows at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem April 2-6. The shows will be billed as a tribute to the band and will feature Damon Albarn performing Demon Days in its entirety. Albarn will be joined onstage by Neneh Cherry, De La Soul, Bootie Brown from Pharcyde, Ike Turner, Martina Topley-Bird and former Happy Mondays front man Shaun Ryder.
Pearl Jam’s 8th studio effort will be self-titled. Their first release in four years is due out on May 2nd. It is the first release on their new label J Records. The first single off of the album is titled “World Wide Suicide” and will be available off of the band’s website to download for free for two days starting on March 8th.
Two security guards shot at Kanye show
Two security guards were shot in Birmingham outside the NEC arena after a man tried to get into a Kanye West show without a ticket. One of the security guards after was treated and released while the other was in serious condition. Birmingham was the last stop on Kanye’s tour in the UK; he continues on in Italy on Thursday.
Madonna will play her first ever festival this year by headlining the Sahara Dance Tent at Coachella. The promoters of the festival, Goldenvoice, have acknowledged that Madonna is more mainstream than the music acts typically booked for the festival.
