Google to pay to host content from AP and other news services
Google has started hosting content that has been produced by the Associated Press, the UK's Press Association, the Agence France-Presse, and The Canadian Press. Previously, Google had been sending readers onto the agencies' own websites. Google has negotiated the deals with the French agency and the AP after concerns were raised over whether or not the agencies' copyrights were being infringed. The terms of these deals, and the deals made with the other two agencies have not been disclosed. The move may diminish the traffic to the other sites which also host the content, and this could mean a fall in the online advertising revenue for broadcasters and newspapers.
Apple has announced that it is inviting press to a "special event" in San Francisco. The invitation has rumors that Apple, which recently introduced its iPhone to America and has made deals to bring the iPhone to Europe by the end of the year, will be unveiling at least one new iPod. Some of the rumors about the alleged new iPod include that it will have a larger video screen and that it will use a touch screen interface like the iPhone. The special event is set to take place on September 5th.
