Google has continued to increase its share of the search advertising market. This more than doubled Google’s second quarter profits earning $721.1 million, or $2.33 a share. This is up from $324.8 million for the same quarter last year. Google has said that expanding its advertising business is one of the company’s top priorities.
Tom Waits attempts to get tickets in the hands of fans
In an attempt to get tickets in the hands of fans at face value, tickets for Tom Waits first U.S. tour in seven years bought on online auction sites will not be considered valid. Tickets for the shows must be picked up on the night of the show from the venue and will only be available to the original buyer. Buyers will need to show photo ID and the credit card information used to buy the tickets.
Eventful.com helps music fans get bands in their town
Eventful.com, which began as an event listing service has added a new feature to its site called Eventful Demand. The feature is based on the idea of a “wish list” but includes a set of tools that will allow users to work together to make an event come about. Users create a request for a band or event in a particular location and once that event receives enough support Eventful.com will act as an online agent and approach the performer about the possible event.
