Google has announced it is launching a search service that will allow software developers to more simply search for code to improve software and create new programs. The service will allow developers to sift through code using the Google search box. The site will initially be free of advertising, although, should it prove popular, Google may reconsider and add pay-per-click advertising along with search results.
U.K. switches to biometric passports
In a process that began earlier this year, the U.K. is switching to biometric passports. The passports contain a chip that holds the person’s facial biometric. As part of the new program, the cost of obtaining a passport in the U.K. has gone up from 42 pounds to 66 pounds this year. Also part of the new program, first time passport applicants will be interviewed starting next spring. As part of the program, 2.5 million of the new passports have been issued.
Gwen Stefani set to release new album
Gwen Stefani has announced a release date to her second solo album. It will be out December 4. She has not announced the title of the album. For it, Stefani has again teamed up with Pharrell Williams as well as No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, Akon, and Swizz Beatz. Some fan sites have speculated the album will be called Sweet Escape.
