Copyright suit filed against Google
A copyright infringement lawsuit has been filed against Google Inc.’s online video service. The suit was revealed in their quarterly filing with the Securities and Trade Commission. The lawsuit may be a foreshadowing of what will come for the company now that it has bought YouTube. No further details of the lawsuit have been released.
Musicians, actors to pay tribute to Johnny Cash in new music video
Many stars have joined together to pay tribute to Johnny Cash by appearing in a Johnny Cash music video. The video will be for the song, “God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” from Cash’s album American V: A Hundred Highways. The stars will appear in all black as a tribute. Some of the artists to appear include Chris Rock, Patti Smith, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy Pop, and Dennis Hopper. The single will be released November 21. The video will be available online that day at sites such as YouTube.
Joni Mitchell to join Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame
Joni Mitchell will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007 along with five of her hits: “Big Yellow Taxi,” “You Turn Me On, I’m a Radio,” “Both Sides Now,” “Woodstock,” and “Help Me”. She will be inducted alongside three other songwriters in a ceremony on January 28. The other artists to be inducted are Jean-Pierre Ferland, Wilf Carter (also known as Montana Slim), and Raymond Egan.
