It's your chance to end the debate of who would win in a fight between Glenn Danzig and Henry Rollins.
I've had the debate countless times with various friends and coworkers. I've even seen others discuss it on a couple of Internet message boards. I've heard and read many arguments, some plausible and some ridiculous. But sadly, this great question continues to be unanswered.…

glenn danzig would kill henry rollins. Are you people kidding me. Glenns awesome. He'd stomp that ugly fucking Henry Rollins.
77 - weaver
glenn would easily win
he follows bruce lees martail arts techniques
i wouldn't want to cross him enough said
78 - Mark Saleski
henry would just ask glen why he sucked so bad in the Misfits....which would reduce glen to a quivering, crying baby.
or something like that.
79 - poopy sandwich in there...
It might be difficult for Glenn to even engage Hank in combat, because Hank's fans would immediately break up the fight. Glenn's fans would probably attack Hank's fans, but Hank has more fans. Anyway, this is dumb. Most of us Henry Rollins fans are waaay too old to be thinking about sh*t like this...

Althogh I am a big fan of Henry Rollins,Danzig would so easily fuck that guy up! First of all Glenn is a very violent, angry, bitchy, strong little dude with lots of BIG fans that would probably kiss his feet for an autograph. Henry is bigger but he wont have what it takes to take out Danzig....but on second thought, they're both pretty old so they both might just have a heart attack in the middle of it! jk But Danzig all the way!
81 - Cub
Okay here's the deal, when Danzig got in a fight with that fat fuck north side kings dick it wasn't a fight, it was one punch, and Danzig wasn't ready. I mean if you had that guy get a wide open shot on you you'd go flying too I dont care who you are. Rollins seems like he's in better condition but the fact that he's afraid of fighting Danzig shows that Danzig would rock him. On the other hand Rollins isn't exactly a fairy: My friend saw him punch some bitch off of the stage at one of his concerts cuz she was trying to grab at the equipment. So Rollins isn't helpless and definatly will fuck shit up. Hard call in all tho...
82 - tothe61stpower
glenn has some serious carnage brewing inside of him. rollins is stacked, but his limpwristed view of politics/life/partying really sour my view of him. i'll take danzig on talent and in a fight
83 - Solipsist213
Did anyone see that episode of the Drew Carey Show where Oswald hit his mom in the face with a bowling ball and felt so bad about it he hired Henry Rollins off of ebay to beat him up? That was funny. Danzig on Aqua Teen Hunger Force was pretty funny too. hmm.... I would put my money on good ol' Hank. b/c Hank is part animal part machine. Seems like it would be a good fight tho.
84 - needleinmyvein20
Dude im back!!!! I had a question is it true that danzig is a nazi i have heard that somewhere i hope not because nazi's suck if someone knows please leave the answer here.
85 - needleinmyvein20
dude that one episode of aqua teen was funny.
ha ha ha ah ha ha ah ha ha i really like danzig he is a beast. henry rollins likes politics and murdering small children with his nuclear bomb but danzig is a war monger too.

If it were a straight up fist fight, I think Rollins would win due to his physical strenght...but anything else Danzig would summon a legion of demons from hell to vanquish his enemies, and then sleep with his mother. end of story.
87 - muttonbuster
Almost like deciding who would win in Klitschko vs Klitschko. Who knows what kind of shape Glenn is in these days, but strength wise some of you need to drop the bong. Glenn's shoulders and arms are monsterous, definitely stronger than Rollins. (Or at least they used to be, he could always go on the Rafael Palmeiro diet to make a comebacl.)
From what I've read they definitely both loved to fight, but Danzig took fighting seriously.
The thing about that North Side Waffle House King clip, is that you really don't see all of it. Clearly a publicity stunt. Danzig was not expecting Bobs Big Boy to throw a punch back. Also, why didn't the guy move in to finish Glenn off? I think there is a good chance that Glenn took a dive. He initiated the violence, so if he then beat the carp out of Bob, you've got witnesses galore all over the place. Who knows though, could be wrong.
But Rollins would definitely be more agile, and would have more endurace. Then you have to figure in Glenn's karate chop and satanic flatulence power. If Danzig really is seriously into this Bruce Lee stuff, that might be a factor, although I don't know how fast you can be if you're built like a tree stump.
I consider Rollins more of a poet, and Danzig more of an performer. Danzig may be a few cans short of a six pack, but the guy can belt out tunes Elvis style (though even Lucifer has not been able to help Danzig conjur up any decent material for 12 years). Rollins just shouts.
But Rollins definitely has more substance and wit, there is no question about that.

RIP Derrick Plourde, miss ya man.

Glenn and rollins did beat the hell out of motley crue back in the day. But glenn would win for sure. Rollins doesn;t fight anymore. Thats fat guy that rocked glenn ran as soon as he cheap shot him why? Cause he knew it was his ass if he didn;t get the fuck out of there. Yes it was for pub. as you can tell if you go to NSK web site its been on there ever since. Thats there claim to fame LOL
89 - ty
danzig would kick that pussy's ass danzig is a monster
90 - ty
i saw danzig in la was a kick ass show that was not that long ago an hes still a monster an hes like 50 i think at the show he startedwith a leather jacket on an it was a bigt jacket but they couldnt get it off his arms cuz they were to big they finally got it off but it took a lil bit so i think no doubt about it that danzig would win
91 - Wesker
Nowadays, i would probably say Rollins. But let's take it back to early '80s late '70s era, and Danzig would be pretty evenly matched (in both anger and strength) i will admit that Danzig is pretty small, but Rollins isnt the biggest guy out there either, but he seems to be in better shape then Danzig nowadays.
92 - eyesofvenus
Everyone knows that size doesnt count in a fight.
Danzig may not be as big now as he used to be, say 10 years ago, but that doesnt mean his fighting ability would change.
Glenn isnt fat. For someone in his early 50's he's in great shape, and if you wanna argue with that just look at most men in the US around the same age as him, overweight
Danzig wins handsdown
93 - Lydia and Kari
Let's talk about who gets things done.......
Danzig has a few comic books we really enjoy. Yes, he's an icon. Yes, he's a mean motherfucker.
BUT... he has pile of bricks that have been sitting in his frontyard for about 6 years now..... time to do something with the bricks or move them. They really screw up the ambiance of the "Munsters" house, Glenn. And fangirls can't reach them through the fence to steal them and e-bay them....... we've already tried.
Rollins gets work done. You know what I mean. I don't have to give you details.
Rollins could spend 2 seconds thinking hard about kicking Glenn's butt, and it would be done.
94 - Evil Con-Carne
Since Danzig has a glass jaw(I saw the video) it would be easy to see that The big "H" would throw him a beatin' easy.
95 - kairi
all I know is that I played Def Jam: Fight for NY, and Henry Rollins kicks some serious ASS in that game.
Rollins in 3 minutes, with more than enough left in the gas tank to show 50 Cent what being a man is REALLY all about.
96 - Stacy
Who cares? I love 'em both!...It WOULD be hot, wouldnt it? (sigh!)
97 - Stacy
DANZIG HAS A GALSS JAW??? WHAT THE FUCK???
98 - Rob Barac
Man oh man. This is almost a year old and still going strong.
Here's the deal. Glen is now a short chubby shadow of his former self. Henry has lost mass, lots of it, and he's showing his age. There is a softness in Rollins eyes and a fear in Danzigs that speaks volumes.
Both dudes would get farked up in a fight.
Too old.
Too soft.
Too rich.
Too far gone.
99 - satinnsin
ok the debate between glen and henry. both bands lead the world of music for so long, but when it somes down to the final on who could stomp who? glen's got it all the way, pure hatred...better built is henry maybe so but eveyone knows that when adrenilne kicks in theres no stopping.
100 - Dave0321
man, Hank is alright BUT why is nobody talking about Harley Flanagen (cromags) and Peter Steele (type O negative)????
a battle for new yorks crown!
that would be intense, or hell Lemmy Kilmister vs. Keith Richards(see which one turns to dust first).
The best match however would be Rollins circa 92 vs. GG Allin the day he was released from prison
101 - Nina
Glenn is the best men on te world I love him and his band
102 - Mike D
If the fight is held back 10-15 years ago..Danzig would mop the floor with Rollins..today I might give it to Rollins as Danzig has stopped working out.......however musically Danzig is the the Godfather of Punk, a legend and pioneer..his voice is levels beyond Rollins and his catalog of work is light years ahead of Rollins...nuff said
103 - justme
Geez this thing has been going on for awhile now. Ok Rollins maybe in better shape but Danzig has pure evil and hatred that would be all that it could take to send Rollins to the old folks home, pure evil and hatred vs. old flabby man? doesnt take a genuis to figure this one out.
KEEP IT GOING DANZIG!!!
104 - tommboi
look...we all know that danzig is the best singer ever...so stop with this 1 guy from black flag...heis oka...but glenn's voice will nock him out...glenn is too good for this crap...i mean...he can really hold a note with his voice and that other guy looks like he is on sumthing...
but yeah...in a fist fight...henry...but overall...DANZIG
105 - John Rollins
Henry Rollins would totally kick his goth Alice Cooper wannabe ass And hes more like Elvis Cooper. Its like a blend of Elvis Presley and Alice Cooper put together. Rollins ALL THE FUCKIN WAY!!!!
106 - justme
Im so sorry I dont know what got into me Rollins would stomp his goofy ass. I dont why I said that I apoligize seriously,I mean everyday I try to walk in the way of Rollins. PS DEvil StROKe All the way YAH
107 - KD
Ok so it goes down like this,
Hank and glen both enter thunder dome. Hank weilding a battle axe with the shrunken head of a dead cop tied to the handle. Danzig enters opposite with a curved sword and a rams head for a skull. The crowd is in uproar. Blood will be spilt on this night. They stare each other down for a good 30 seconds. Then they decide to team up and kill Jerry Only and the new misfits.
winner: THE WORLD!!
108 - justme
ok just to clarify in case that other "justme" didnt look this "IS" my sn come back dude with a diff name and deffend rollins, as for me??? STILL FOR GLEN DANZIG!!
109 - paul
The thread called for a hypothetical fist fight between the two men.
Ignore for a moment all artistic, lyrical, vocal "who is better" stuff.
I'd like to add my thoughts on this....
I trained in Kung Fu for a number of years, and my instructor was the exact same height and build of the current Rollins. Yet I have seen on many occasions my instructor dismantle 2 and 3 guys at the same time who were anything from as big as him to as big as NFL players. Size truly doesn't matter in a fight. It's the size of the fight in the man, as they say.
Part of that is that too much bulk can reduce the ability to throw quick punches. Quick punches hurt more than long sweeping slow haymakers. Most street fights end up on the ground. In a tussle. So size (and technical skill) matters here. A boxer would almost always lose a fight to a wrestler.
Some people mention Danzig's fatness or bulk as a detriment to his fighting. This is true to a certain extent. As is noticable in that NSK video, Danzig was too stiff and unable to counteract at all a quick punch. It momentarily put him down is the key point too. If there were no others around, that NSK guy could have then set upon on Danzig on the ground and kicked him into unconsciousness easily. So if anyone has to punch a quick punch is more effective than a big haymaker 90% of the time as most fights will end up on the ground anyway. So better to be quick and put your opponent off his guard and then pounce in to wrestle him down or kick him. Whereas a big but slow bazooker punch will be your own worst enemy. If Danzig was the first to throw against that NSK guy, that guy would have seen it, dodged it, and countered easily. You see it all the time in boxing. The big haymakers only work when your opponent is exhausted, bleary eyed. Tyson was a great fighter because raw power in his punches was able to come out so quickly in short sharp uppercuts and crosses.
Danzig should know this if he did learn Jeet Kune Do. Which teaches that punches should all be fast and straight, none of these hooks, no big wind ups. Never open up your center zone, always protect it and punch from it. Like Ali used to fight. Yet in that video Danzig makes the glaring mistake of standing there open chest, arms really stiff by his side. Any well-trained martial artist would never let that happen. A confrontation was on, matter of time, so he should have been prepared. Especially after pushing the guy away and calling him a mofo.
Anyway, but to give Danzig a chance in this fight against Rollins. I would like to point out that in the UFC, if anyone remembers Tank Abbott? He was a very fat biker guy, not a trained dojo fighter, just a regular street brawler. He lost some fights in the UFC, but he regularly won. He had powerful but slow haymaker punches, but why he was so good was because he learnt from street fighting that most fights end up on the ground. Without any wrestling training, just street fights, he was able to use that expertize in the UFC ring. He was short and fat and once he got close he would expertly get his opponent down and never able to get back up again, as he applied pressure to their arms, joints, neck, a knee to the head, etc, and would win.
So, if Danzig had any skill in wrestling, he could use his mass on Rollins if he could ever expertly counteract a Rollins punch. If Danzig got Rollins on the ground, he COULD win the fight. I'm not sure if Rollins has any martial arts training, but his physique would help him be very slippery to manouver down.
What helps too is having a strong chin. Danzig fairly well couldn't take a punch. People like Tank Abbott in the UFC, and many others there, could take barrages of punches. It is important as a fighter to be able to absorb a few punches especially in trying to counter them onto the ground.
So Rollins to me would beat Danzig, unless Danzig was able to get him on the ground quickly and defuse Rollins punching ability. Once there, Danzig could inflict hurt to Rollins via pressure points or knees to the head and kidneys.
In saying all that, one person of all rock-stars who I think everyone would lose to would be GG Allin. Everyone is scared of a man that doesn't care if he gets hurt. With GG, much of that hurt came self-inflicted and loving it. Covered in sh!t and blood, knocking his own teeth out, cutting himself up all over with glass, etc, and a big tall man himself with excellent wrestling skills. I've seen home videos of GG showing great skill in wrestling people down "with one hand tied behind his back". Pretty much all the mean guys of the underground scene were scared of GG. Often whole audiences would flee for their lives when confronted with GG in his shows.
Big or small, technically skilled or not, anyone fighting GG would have been annihilated if they didn't run.
110 - Dave0321
ya, but lets be honest here. people ran from GG cause he was covered in sh!t & puke.
i agree though, 99% of the time the mindset of the fighter determines the outcome.
and because of that i gotta go with Rollins all the way. if any of you read about the history of Black Flag and even early Rollins Band days you will find out the Hank is as self inflicting and "worm in the head" as guys like GG. the difference is he is disciplined, almost military. Hank is the hero to most "bad asses" in the music world.
111 - paul
Dave0321, thanks for your contribution.
I agree with you whole-heartedly that Rollins would beat Danzig in a physical fight. I haven't seen anything from Danzig that would suggest he is actually a good fighter at all. On the contrary, I've only seen an inability to fight from him. Meanwhile, I've seen Rollins only show a great fighting ability. A big part of this also has to do with personality. Rollins is more of a down-to-earth guy, who has lived a hard-life, is open to the sufferings and humanity around him, has travelled extensively, learnt humility, etc etc. Whereas Danzig has always come across as a prima donna, a brat, a bit too concerned about his appearance, his hair, etc. Learning humility and a million other life lessons, Rollins shows a Zen-like quality that adds an intangible importance to being a good fighter.
As for GG Allin, sure a lot of people ran because he was covered in shit and blood, but the guy was big, very scarey, showed no fear whatsoever, was very singular and confrontational, and like i said before, everyone is scared of a person who doesn't care if he gets hurt (and/or is covered in shit and blood). Away from that, in his own space, GG was just as fearsome, while also being a cool guy too who could talk to whoever. But GG always had that ability to snap if he was crossed. So that unpredicatibility, that "living on the streets" 24/7 mentality/experience would make him more of a dangerous fighter than Rollins (or any other mentioned tough-guy rock star) who all have their own large homes, porsches, etc etc. GG will always remain the most dangerous, tough, scarey guy to ever be confronted by, and I am sure that even Rollins would have been very wary and avoided him if the situation ever arose. It was only crowds of people that could ever overcome GG whenever he did get beaten up. And even then, most crowds fled from GG and dared not get in the cross-fire. One-man army who could oversome a crowd - thru fear, intimidation, self-inflicted violence and shit/blood/piss self-degredations, and sheer physical power.
One final point....Of course, Henry's reputation is that he is a hero and an inspiration to millions of people around the world. That is never in question. Henry has great heart, spirit, and humanity inside him. The last true standing spokesperson in a world of mediocrity. And while, GG was more of a notorious and filthy creature, there are still a lot of aspects, and philosophies, within GG during his time on Earth, that gave him some messianic quality about him.
GG could not be compared to any other human. He was perhaps the most honest, transparent, and true human. He lived utterly true to himself, never lied, lived the life he sung about 100%, shunned materialism and money for a 'messianic'-like mission (like Jesus, travelling around his nation living on the street, just the clothes on his back, spreading a message). It would be impossible to find any person before or since who was so transparent, so fearless, so into toughening oneself up, so passionate about shunning materialism/money for a mission, so determined to live in squalor, shit, blood, broken bones, 24/7 danger and thumb their nose at opportunities to be wealthier, safer, to conform and toe any authorities line. While GG may have been a self-absorbed animal that you wouldn't want to get too close to, and lacks the empathy and inspirational spirit of Rollins, I think it is possible to respect both men for being who they were/are.
Both have been inspirations to me just as literary writers have been, or a personal friend may have been, or other people from other walks of life have been.

Hank, hands down
113 - suya
NO way, Glenn would make a little girl out of that greying neat freak!
114 - Robjeremi
Dwayne peters from the US Bombs would level everyone mentioned thus far.
115 - petra
i cant believe there is even a debate. Rollins would
smoke check Danzig. glenn is cool as hell and prolly a good fighter BUT Rollins is hardcore to the bone. NO WAY is a health freak, straight edge "monklike" lifestyle a weak quality. that goes to show how mentally powerful that motherfucker is!!
ROLLINS, 1st round KO.
116 - Dave 0321
so is rollins 5'10 or 5'4 ???
i am hearing both, can someone answer this with some proof please?
117 - Jim138
Rollins has said many times hes not a very vilent person. i love Danzig but now adays i would say Rollins he just seem in better shape i mean Danzigs an old man now Rollins isn't young ether but he seen to keep in better shape. But in the 80s i would say Danzig. I don't on if many people no this but Danzig in the 80s took on 3 skinheads by him self as bobby steele went to get the cops
118 - Joi
I think Glenn would win, even though I agree that they wouldn't fight because they're friends. I say Glenn because I had a friend in high school who was built kinda like Glenn, but not as muscular, and one day I saw him break someone's jaw because he made a nasty comment to me. It's all about anger. I think Glenn has more anger and rage... It would be a close one though.
119 - ortence
I'm 5'11 and I met Henry Rollins in person a few years back, and he was shorter than I was, we were both wearing flat soled shoes. He came up to about my shoulder height, either a little below or a little above. That would put him around the 5'5 mark, very roughly speaking.
120 - Jack
"Danzig in the 80s took on 3 skinheads by him self as bobby steele went to get the cops" says Jim138 iggnorantly.
the only reason he didnt get his ass kicked was because he had a broken bottle in his hand.
i still think danzig would win though.
Today, yes. Back in the day, yes.

Glenn Danzig (born Glenn Allen Anzalone on June 23, 1955 in Lodi, New Jersey, USA) is an accomplished singer and musician, and the creative force behind The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He is one of the most influential individuals in dark rock music.
He is perhaps best known for his crooning vocal style, which borrows from a mix of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and Jim Morrison. His career spans nearly thirty years and encompasses a multitude of musical genres - from punk rock, to heavy metal, to blues, to industrial, and classical. He is a much maligned figure due to his flirtations with the Satanic and his abrasive persona. Glenn is also a determined weightlifter, and a certified teacher of Jeet Kune Do, which he began studying in 1992 after training in the style of Muay Thai.
GLENN MOTHER FUCKIN DANZIG ALL THE WAY

Ok you sold me there - I vote for Danzig, despite the fact that he's pushing 50...and Rollins is how old?
125 - angryrob
I ove them both, but hank would win hands down since he grew up on the mean streets of D.C.
