George to Be Remembered

George Harrison will be remembered with what should be a musical night to remember on the anniversary of his death, November 29 at London's Royal Albert Hall:

the show is being put together by his widow Olivia and Eric Clapton, one of Harrison's oldest and dearest friends.

As LAUNCH already revealed, Clapton will play and oversee the musical content of the show, which will feature performances from Harrison's Beatles mates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, his Traveling Wilburys partners Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne; singer-pianist Leon Russell; former Squeeze pianist Jools Holland; drummer Jim Keltner; British singer-guitarist Joe Brown; Indian sitar legend Ravi Shankar; and Monty Python's Flying Circus members Michael Palin and Eric Idle. Another longtime friend of Harrison's, Peter Frampton, told LAUNCH that he hoped to be added to the bill.

Petty gave LAUNCH a preview of what is likely to happen at the concert. "I just talked with Eric Clapton about it, and I think everyone's gonna do George's songs. And I think there'll probably be some Indian music, and some ukulele music, and Monty Python's gonna be there, and...you know, things that George really liked."

Proceeds will go to the Material World Charitable Foundation, a personal favorite of Harrison's since its inception in 1973. The group supports the arts, music, education, and people with special needs.

Good old George - another one gone too soon.
