George Harrison To Receive Star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Part of: NewsFlash

Late Beatles guitarist and Traveling Wilburys founder George Harrison is about to add one more posthumous honor to his legacy: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony will take place April 14 in front of the Capitol Records building – the American division of The Beatles' British EMI label — on Vine Street in Los Angeles.  Harrison's wife, Olivia, and their son, Dhani, will be present to accept the honor on Harrison's behalf.  Relating to the ceremony, Capitol/EMI is expected to make an announcement about a future Harrison music release.  Further details aren't available at this time.

Harrison, oft referred to as 'The Quiet Beatle,' didn't achieve the same level of acclaim as bandmates Paul McCartney and John Lennon, but did contribute notable songs to the great Fab 4 catalog and had an interesting and successful post-Beatles career.  In addition to his landmark triple LP All Things Must Pass, Harrison formed the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys.  The Traveling Wilburys were comprised of Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne.

In other Harrison-related news, Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese is continuing his work on a Harrison documentary.

Harrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist posthumously in 2004.

Even though getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is different than most honors, still it's about time that George received one.
