The record album that John Lennon signed for the man who killed him hours later is for sale online. The album is being sold by an unidentified man who found it in the front gate flower planter outside the Dakota apartment building where Lennon lived and Mark David Chapman shot and killed him in 1980.
The owner had turned the album in to police as evidence, later to be returned from the District Attorney. The album bears the signature of John Lennon and is dated 1980. The cover and dust jacket is said to contain forensically enhanced fingerprints of Chapman.
It is a sad reflection of our society that some people would consider this as memorabilia or to profit from this tragedy.
