Foo Fighters Artist of the Month on Music Choice

The Foo Fighters rose from the ashes of Nirvana, a band that will forever haunt that highest echelon of legendary and influential bands. The Foo Fighters' founder and primary songwriter Dave Grohl formed the band in 1995, just six months after the death of Kurt Cobain, with a stockpile of songs he had written during his three and a half years as Nirvana's drummer. Of course, no one knew Grohl had a catalogue of his own songs; many times he has repeated that old axiom/joke — What did the drummer say just before he got fired? “Hey, guys, let's try one of my songs!”

The Foo Fighters' eponymous first album was a moderate hit, but didn't light the air waves on fire. It was their second album, The Colour and the Shape – with the British spelling as a nod to their producer Gil Norton – which spawned several hit songs, including “Monkey Wrench”, and “Everlong”. Since their formation, Foo Fighters have garnered a reputation as a talented, hard working and, strangely enough in the rock industry, nice band. In Foo Fightersmusic journalist circles Grohl is considered one of the most friendly, down-to-earth, and just plain likable men in rock today. And with hits like “Learn to Fly”, “All My Life”, “Times Like These”, and “Best of You” there is no arguing that the Foo Fighters are important players on the international rock ‘n’ roll stage today.

Now the popular on-demand music network Music Choice, has chosen this multi-Grammy Award winning band to be Artist of the Month. This feature will include two Music Choice original programmes. Fans will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Foo Fighters' personal recording studio, guided by Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, and an unscripted Q&A session between the band and their fans on the street. Of course, Music Choice will also be offering a wide variety of the Foo Fighters' best videos for the entire month of January.
