Blogcritics is proud to give two lucky readers the chance to win Pure '80s #1s. The CD will be released May 9 and pays tribute to a decade that brought us parachute pants, leg warmers, and Pac Man. All the songs in this collection spent time at the top of Billboard's Charts and 11 of them were certified gold or platinum.
Though nearly two decades have passed, the music of the decade still lives on and was recently immortalized in Bowling for Soup's "1985." There are some things we may want to forget, like big hair and those aforementioned parachute pants, but the music is not one of them. Pure '80s #1s is a great collection of chart-topping hits that covers the whole decade, not only the fun and quirky pop hits like "Down Under" by Men at Work, but also the Progressive Rock hits like "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes. Be it "Kiss on My List" by Hall and Oates from 1981 or Bad English's "When I See You Smile" from 1989, every song contained herein is sure to bring back a memory or two.
Pure '80s #1s is part of a collection and will join the already released Pure ‘80s Hits, Pure ‘80s Love, Pure ‘80s Rocks, Pure ‘80s Dance, and More Pure ‘80s.

The only track I don't like on here is the one byBad English. It's impossible to sum up all the great songs from the '80s, but this is a solid collection.

Funny, I always think of the 80s as the last truly exciting musical decade - but none of the music I associate with the decade is on this CD!

It is funny to see just how many 80s compilation disks are out there, and really how 80s music on a whole is separated into so many categories (i.e. pop, progressive, etc)

Just off the top of my head: Television, The Clash, Prince, Joy Division/New Order, The Jam, The Specials, Madness, Squeeze, The Feelies, The Dead Kennedys, Depeche Mode, Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa, Crass, The Poison Girls, The Cure, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Run DMC, Aerosmith, Prince Far I, Eek-A-Mouse, Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, The Fall, oh frig, I'm making a list.

That really is quite a List. I like a lot of the pop acts from the 80s but some of the best music of that time came from the bands you have listed. Squeeze, Prince, Frankie Goes to Hollywood jumped out at me as just a few of the greats.
