Eminem sues over ringtones. Eminem is taking five companies to court over selling his songs as ringtones. The lawsuit was filed in a U.S. district court in Detroit. Eminem’s publishing companies say they’ll also be taking on karaoke companies that sell Eminem’s music without permission.
VeriSign snaps up Weblogs.com VeriSign, the company that operates the registry for .com and .net websites announced today that it has bough Weblogs.com and Weblogs.com’s ping service. The acquisition was made for $2.3 million in cash. VeriSign intends to continue operating the site as an open service.
Bomb scare interrupts Stones show. The Rolling Stones’ show in Charlottesville, Virginia was interrupted when a phone call made to police warned of a bomb. The band was evacuated from the stage, with Jagger announcing to the crowd they would take a break. After police had searched and given the all clear the Rolling Stones returned to the stage and played until after midnight.
Morrissey names new album. Morrissey is working on the project with producer Tony Visconti. The album, which is titled Ringleader of the Tormentors will be out next April.
