DVD Review: Kylie Minogue - Body Language Live: Album Launch Live at the London Apollo - Page 3

I watched the three music videos that come with the DVD first, before watching the concert or anything else: "Slow," Red-Blooded Woman" and "Chocolate"

"Slow" shows Kylie Minogue by a large pool on a towel surrounded by tanning, oiled men. Lying prone, sunbathing, it evokes the daydreaming and slowed-down, skin-baking experience common at any resort pool.

The "Slow" video starts with a man diving from the high board into a pool before climbing out and stepping out and into the testosterone crowd. The diving shot mirrors the Barcelona Olympic pool dives that looked like they were soaring 1,000 feet above the earth; and we find out later that's exactly where it was filmed.

Ballerinas dancing on a black hat is the image that lingered from "Chocolate," all while Kylie holds a large coral red rose low in both hands. All three music videos are artistic and languorous, with "Chocolate" especially so; think of the power of dark, high-cocoa Godiva.

I have heard women moan at the anticipated pleasure - just the same way as Kylie does here.

The videos are more sensual and suggestive than the songs themselves, especially and not surprisingly on "Red-Blooded Woman." With the audience at the concert it's a less intimate experience — and that's a good thing because during the videos it was warm for a while where I was sitting.

Americans may most remember Kylie Minogue in 2001, acting as the Green Fairy in Moulin Rouge. People can think she's just another pretty face. But, though I'm sure she wishes it was for any other reason, her breast cancer has made the back of some people's minds twinge as they remember cultural sightings of Kylie Minogue. If they are elsewhere in the world, the memories are not too far back.

It's been a trip. (See "My History with Kylie" article).

Since it was already late, it's still worth digitally replicating this post over at Advance.net, a place affiliated with about 10 newspapers around the country.

    One such site is here.

Also please let your contact know, if you had one, that this article, is published at one more place. That helps to show they get two?, three? for the "price" of one.

Delayed much in the transfer? Yep.
