DVD Review: Jonas Brothers - The 3D Concert Experience (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

Thump, thump, thump, thump, go the hearts of young girls everywhere, as sighs escape their lips at the sight of three talented young musicians, Joe, Kevin, and Nick — the boy band of the present, The Jonas Brothers. I hesitate to use the term “boy band” because that seems a bit on the demeaning side. Joe, Kevin, and Nick each display their own individual musical talent that works incredibly well when blended together. I will be very curious to see how the three of them stand the test of time, be it together or as solo artists.

Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience includes a Blu-ray disc with the 3D version of the movie (also included are four pairs of 3D glasses for added viewing pleasure), a second disc with the movie in standard 2D, and a third disc containing a digital copy of Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience, which can quickly and easily be transferred to your portable video player. All in all, this is a visually appealing package that has everything needed to get up close and personal with the Jonas Brothers.

jonas brothersWith that being said, I have to honestly say that I was a bit disappointed in the 3D aspect of the Blu-ray disc. I wasn’t sure if it was just me, so I asked my 7-year-old daughter, who watched along with me, what she thought. She said that some parts of the 3D were good, but others, not so much. So this set my mind a bit at ease. Another disappointment was the fact that even though the DVD slipcase states that this creation stars the Jonas Brothers “in their first motion picture,” what the disc contains is basically a concert with a bit of backstage and day-to-day footage added throughout. This misunderstanding could have basically just been my ignorance on what the contents of the disc entailed, and others who are aware of the fact that this is indeed mainly concert footage will not have that disappointment.

jonas brothersThose are basically the only faults that I found on Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. The music is fun and upbeat, and the energy of the Jonas Brothers is phenomenal. They truly bring their songs to life and draw the audience in - not to mention the cool confetti/silly string guns (okay, not completely sure what shot out of the guns, but it appeared to be either confetti or silly string). You can definitely tell the guys are having a blast and that they truly love what they do.
