Ducky Offers Free Download of "Killing Time" and "Like Rain"

Part of: The mp3 Files

I have a confession to make.  I’ve become a cynic, living in the perpetual doubt that I will ever find an artist that truly moves me.  This fatalistic sense of bitterness especially applies to electronic music, which tends to edge toward obscurity in the quest for ambience or edginess.

In spite of this admittedly self-defeating attitude, my interest was piqued when I heard of Ducky (aka Morgan Neiman) and her self-described brand of coke-binge space pop.  I  wasn’t sure what "coke-binge space pop" could possibly sound like so I headed off to YouTube to watch the video for Ducky’s introductory single “Killing Time,” which was produced by Dingo Dog and directed by Waverly Mandel.

Ducky aka Morgan NeimanI was immediately impressed by the clarity and rich timbre of Ducky’s voice and I really enjoyed this witty video, too.  It is a lot of fun!

I then listened to “Like Rain” with its surreal, disjointed beats and ethereal vocals. And I found the tracks “Your Ever After” and “Dust” on Ducky’s previous releases, Killing Time / Your Ever After and The Glamorous Gutter EP.  I was finally getting a clear idea of what Ducky was all about (and what coke-binge space pop might actually be).  With her slick production and versatility, Ducky is surely on the verge of stratospheric success.

The San Franciscan-born artist has been making music since she was 13, playing alongside such artists as Japanther, Ninjasonik, and Roxy Cottontail. She left school at 16 to attend NYU’s Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music.

She is releasing The Whether EP on February 21 and is offering two free downloads to mark its release.
