I almost don't even know what to say to all of you. I am disappointed that non-believers automatically do not want to give christian music a chance just becouse thier christians. I am a 21 yr old christian with a child and a fiance who is not a christian and I hear the same thing from him day in and day out. I personally only like a couple of slip-knot songs but I do not dis them becouse they ar not christian, but there is something about demon hunter that I just love and it is not becouse they are christian becouse I personally would have to say some of my fav, bands are Korn, Limp, and many others like them. I listen to that music becouse I like the sound. As long as you are not taking the lyrics to heart and going out and jumping off a bridge to kill yourself or anything else bad I feel that it is okay. I even have two sisters that work at a christian radio station, but honestly I only like a very few of the bands, but the ones I like I really like.
This whole thing just amazes me. I like switchfoot and would listen to them and try to tell my fiance that they were good and he refused to listen to them becouse they were christian and now that they have made it into mainstream he likes them alot. I think that non-christians should atleast give the music a chance and if you dont like it fine thats okay and christians shouldn't judge the secular music either.
And a comment to an earlier post someone said that they were christian and that its okay to do drugs. It is not! There is verse that says that our bodys are a temple for God and to not defial it, which would include drugs, sleeping around, smoking, and anything else that would make you unclean and potentially hurt you.

Oh and also this is how I look at my chritianity now, I believe in God not knowing for sure if He really exists or not, and if it turns out that I am wrong and he is not real and when I die I just die and thats it. Then oh well. it didn't hurt me to believe in God, And if anything it gave me a better outlook on life and gave me something to make this life a little bit easier thinking that there was a God out there that loved me and was waiting for me to come to him and just cared enough for me to give his only son (which by hte way when you become a parent that will open your eyes even more to that sacrifice).

Anyway...Demon Hunter rocks! It is not crap like Slayer and all the et ceteras. Demon Hunter is making a cool movement. I believe I heard that a band member or members had admitted to hiding their faith a bit...but now they plan to be more outspoken (but this is just a rumor...check it out though). Also on the ropes is Killswitch Engage...and look out! All Heavy Metal fans have heard of Sepultura...which Max left to make Soulfly. Soulfly is making ground...I leave it up to you to decide...but they are defiantely IMO making a move in a Christian direction. I pray that Max...and his future project (whoever he picks as his next lineup) go all out...the way Bob Dylan did when he made 3 Christian albums. But you can do some pickings among Soulfly's 3 and Prophecy. A must would be, Tree of Pain, of off the album 3, and Moses off of Prophecy.
Also props to P.O.D. Without Jah nothin...I think its called...is awesome. Picking up that dude from the band Bad brains to help on that. And Blindside bringing in Smashing Pumpkins singer to play some guitar? Weird.

Same MUSICAL level, but im a christian and i cant say i dislike bands like slipknot, children of bodom and slayer, but i avoid listening to them, because they praise downstairs FREAK that dared to defy God our Lord Creator and Savior ! Its non-sense to do such, thats what makes Slipknot, Children of Bodom and slayer bad bands .. They are great musicians, i agree, but its such a waste ..

I agree with most here that ALOT and I mean ALOT of metal fans and other stereotypical people need to open up there ears and minds and quit clicheing metal as evil. Sure metal has an evil reputation, big deal so does alot of other music. All I am saying is have an open mind to metal. Remember it is ONLY entertainment, like a good horror movie. If the music is good listen to it. Big deal if Demon Hunter are christians.
I might add that I've noticed alot of metal bands (eg. Hatebreed, Iced Earth, Nightwish, Killswitch Engage, System Of A Down) giving a more truthful, respectful and positive side to their lyrics and to be perfectly honest, that's the way it should be. Think for a moment ... wouldn't it be nice to hear metal in that kind of perspective for a change. It's been about 15 years too long now that most metal has depressed me really. I do however want to feel good when I listen to metal and feel moved after.
And NO I am not a christian. I haven't really found a religion the best suits me. I don't agree to almost all religions and all cults. I believe people should take a common sense approach to living & spirituality or make up their OWN minds on what is right and what is wrong.

I love DEMON HUNTER, actually im listening to them right now. But im into more harder music, i also love norma jean but alot of you guys hate demon hunter because of what they believe in, which i think thats really stupid. I used to be a big fan of SLIPNOT,and MARLYN MANSON but after a while i saw that something was'nt right, i was mad all the time, hated my parents and i would also see spirits that wanted me to do suicide.
Christian metal bands have changed me, just like DH. i really like Demon Hunter, i found out about them on myspace because they toured with Flyleaf, a really good band fronted by a girl [she can scream, dude!]. I'm looking for Christian bands out there, because one, I am a Christian and i came out of a period of darkness and depression [which God delivered me from] and got into rock/metal/goth music.
I, personally don't like it when bands talk smack about God, or scream at me as if i was a load of crap, or talk trash and say hateful, disgusting things into my ears. I personally don't like bands like Slipknot solely because of their lyrical contents and demonic influences, but they make good music and i can listen to their more mild songs. Korn is also good.
music is alot more than a sound. we can be influenced by the words we hear and the things that flow into our subconcious. that can explain dreams. but anyways, i'm more confortable with clean, expressive lyrics and great melodies/rythms.
i'm 14 and have been saved since i was five. yet, i am a sensitive/expressive artist and dress and think how i want but also humble myself before the one God who committed suicide for me.
most of my friends are satanists, wiccans, athiests. but remember, Jesus ate with sinners and tx collectors. the saddusees and pharisees always asked him why-but it was because Jesus loved everyone!

another thing, i hate labels! i damn them to hell. I shop at Hot Topic, i dress "goth" if thats wut u wanna call it and i have strange viewpoints about life and death, i've been called wierd by wierdos, and misunderstood by everyone [i'm a natural outcast, i dont have to try to be wierd, i just am and alwasy was]. i know what pain is, suffering, torment and depression. i was always teased, picked ona nd envied in school but now i'm stronger because god took away the demon that held me down. i started reading the bible after i prayed, asking god to take away the spirirt that kept me from His book, and i learned so much about the person i worshipped.
i recommend Matthew of the New Testament. I read normal books, vampire romance mostly and dark poetry, so i guess that a non believer can try and read the bible. they wouldnt undertsand only because sadly, they are blind and spirirtually dead.
either way, i like christian bands because their music doesnt beat you up, it enlightens you, and reminds you that you have divine love and strength beyond that of even the most powerful people. they remind you that you are a saint, a child of god and your spirirt is alive.
why thrive in darkness when the light loves you to death, literally? why brood and hate life when you know that all God wants from you is faith, because he loved you enough to come to earth as a man and DIE for your filthy undeserving self?
humans are disgusting, rotten and nefarious creatures, we are. but when you become saved, you lose the urge to sin, it's take from you, and you feel like you can fly. your eyes become openned to everything. you can see the demons in people, know when something is bad for you to do.

I really like Demon Hunter. I stumbled across them on myspace of all places one day and have been listening to them ever since. I probably listen to them several times a day (Sort of like when I discovered Linkin Park, and yes, I know it's a different genre). The thing that bums me out about Demon Hunter is they never tour! I think their site says they last played NYC in 2004 or some such. I'd love to see them play, but I'm fairly certain after 5 years or more and not being able to see them they will fade from my memory. I'm just trying to put some money in their pockets showing my support. It's great they don't need money, I wish we could all say the same thing.
All in all, I'm glad for the work they've done, and their faith, and hope to see them on the East Coast eventually.
