British blues sensation Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam are gearing up for a U.S. tour in advance of the physical release of their second album Coming Up For Air. The album has already been released digitally, with the CD due in stores June 16.
Coming Up For Air is the second Back Door Slam, but is the first since Knowles parted company with bassist Adam Jones and drummer Ross Doyle. Joining Knowles in the studio for this sophomore effort, of sorts, are Peter Frampton and Benmont Tench. Frampton serves as producer for the majority of the album. He also co-wrote two songs with Knowles and lends some guitar and bass work to a couple tracks. Tench (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) plays Hammond organ on several of the album's 11 tracks.
Knowles has already lined up 29 dates throughout the summer, taking him throughout North America. He'll be headlinging gigs as well as making appearances at festivals, including Lollapalooza in Chicago. Speaking of festivals, Back Door Slam's critically acclaimed set at last summer's Bonnaroo has been released as a digital live album (iTunes, Amazon). Knowles has already been out on the road in advance of the new record playing shows opening for Jeff Beck and Chickenfoot.
