Either you love Dashboard Confessional’s acoustic ambiance or you hate it.
Either way, Dashboard Confessional has defied the naysayers and are living large in the big leagues these days. After getting some serious air time on MTV, not to mention hype from various teen magazines who have turned lead vocalist Chris Carrabba, into the poster child for "emo" Music, Dashboard has released their 4th album entitled Mtv Unplugged-- a redundancy that Carrabba openly admits to.
Thankfully this album isn't just a live version of The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, the album that sparked the proverbial Dashboard Confessional flame. MTV Unplugged is full of songs ranging from "Turpentine Chaser " from Dashboard Confessional’s Swiss Army Romance, to "So Impossible " from the So Impossible EP. Surprisingly the production of the CD is excellent—a rarity in live CD production these days.
While some like the overpowering "crowd vocals" during a Dashboard performance, it seemed to be more of a distraction than an addition to this live album.
All in all this is a well put together album. The vocals are clean and the instruments are crisp and clear. The CD features songs from all of Dashboard's albums plus a bonus DVD of their unplugged performance on Mtv which is a decent substitute for those who haven't had a chance to see them play.

As much as I've tried to listen to them, they're just another college band made big. I've heard enough of this type of band all through the 90's and I guess since Dave Matthews is out, DBC just steps up into his place.

the cd is boring as crap. the Live DVD is 10xs better.
And Dashboard was never really a "college band"... he just made it big with the teeny-boppers.

okay, if you don't like chris carrabba's music or him himself, then just don't listen to it. stop wasting all of your time writing shit about him because he's amazing and has amazing lyrics.. you need to grow up because i'm sure there's a lot of things people don't like about you. so get over yourselves and go to another site.
