Unfortunately you're not robots? Thank God for that - alls the world needs is more rehashed breakdowns, unimaginative scream-alongs, and xerox-copied themes and instrumentation. In these days 35 minutes of anything that can bring a smile to my face is worth the money. This album is worth it.
Before I got this CD in the mail from the fine folk at Revelation Records I had only heard of this band - never hearing one track of their handiwork. Don't make the same mistake as me. Either run a music-related website for a few years until you become a somewhat reputable media source and start getting CD's in the mail with the barcodes punched out, or save yourself a few hundred bucks and headaches and just BUY this album. Serious.
What gets me so excited about an album like this is the few curve balls it throws my way. It's the air of mystery surrounding the vocals which scare away your co-workers - the ones who listen to the Dixie Chicks. It's the guitars that make me want to play guitar - or at least fall into a crowd of proud indie scenesters in the front row while playing the guitar. It's like for us guys when we play basketball with some friends and you mishandle a pass and it slams into your genitalia - it hurts so much but you can't help but smile and laugh. Yea, this album is that much fun.
Overall a finely produced metal-induced album that's great for driving cars and operating heavy machinery in agressive but safe manner.

YES! I can testify to the "scaring your coworkers" bit. The guy in the cubicle next to me came over to investigate and was like "that's music?"
I was like, what are you into, then?
"You know... Dixie Chicks. Stuff like that."
Curl Up And Die freaking rock. Love the artwork in this CD too. And their song titles are awesome.
THat's all.

My wife and friend gave me the same reaction when I was listening to Mortician. However, neither of them listen to the Dixie Chixxx.
