Congress prepares new digital copyright bill
Legislation created by the Bush administration and backed by Texas Representative Lamar Smith would expand the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The bill has support amongst large copyright holders like the RIAA. the bill entitled the Intellectual Property Protection Act of 2006 includes such things as allowing wiretaps in investigations of copyright crimes, raises criminal penalties for copyright infringement, and creates civil asset forfeiture penalties for things used in copyright piracy among other things.
Previously unreleased Babyshambles and Libertines music leaked
Previously unreleased Libertines and Babyshambles tracks have been leaked onto the internet. The leak came from Pete Doherty's own computer. The leaked tracks provide fans a look at the transitional period of Doherty moving from the Libertines to Babyshambles. The leak included demo tracks that were recorded prior to the Libertines first release Up the Bracket.
Alice in Chains release tour dates
Alice in Chains have released a handful of club dates. The band, who have not toured since frontman Layne Staley died, have announced five dates In West Hollywood, Chicago, San Diego, New York, Boston and Sturgis, South Dakota. The remaining band members Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney and Mike Inez will be joined by William DuVall from Comes With the Fall.
