We left the grounds completed satisfied with our day one experience and hinted to one another that we already felt that the 2008 V-Fest was better than last year’s.  Of course the next day was still to be determined in a little over twelve hours.  We headed back to the hotel for some A/C , internet, and most importantly… sleep.

Day Two:

We arrived back at the Pimlico Race Track for a second helping of Virgin Fest just before noon.  Hollywood Undead, the Book The Band Winner (a contest where the fans choose which band takes stage) were already unleashing their rap/rock to their fans who chose them to perform on the South Stage.  We skipped them in order to get to the North Stage in time for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

I never gave Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) a chance before, because I thought they were more of a stoner rock motorcycle band. Boy, was I wrong.  BRMC was one of my cohort‘s highlight of the weekend and during our six and a half hour drive I never once asked him why he liked them so much.  I found out as soon as they took stage.  Looking not so awake, the threesome played some great indie rock that reminded me of Kings Of Leon meets T. Rex.  They had a new meets classic sound that was highly appealing.

With the heat seeming much balmier than Saturday, we made our way to see Andrew Bird.  Surrounded by vintage Specimen, Ampro, and Schroeder amps Andrew Bird and his band won me over playing violins like ukuleles and his amazing whistling talent.  At one time he played the guitar, xylophone, and whistled at the same time.   It was the first time I had ever heard of Andrew Bird and I am glad I got to check him out. He is an amazing musician.

Since we chose to not check out Paramore we had some time on our hands so we grabbed some food and checked out the Bindlestiff Family Circus.  Last year I was all about the crab cake sandwiches but this year it was the crab roll up and the crab pretzel.  I love Baltimore cuisine.

I have to say, I was very impressed with the green aspect of the festival as well. Hopefully all festivals in the future will follow this example and build on it.
