There comes a time and point in one’s Warped Tour experience when you need to pick one band over another. I came to a crossroads between two ska bands, Reel Big Fish and The Aggrolites. I chose the band that I had never seen before and I am glad I did as The Aggrolites put forth a great ska performance mixed with a nice R&B feel. Even though I was enjoying the songs from the band that backed up Tim Armstrong on his solo release I left early as I really wanted to check out some nerdcore.
MC Chris was once of the acts I was most excited for on the tour this year and apparently I was not the only one who felt this way as the Ernie Ball stage was full of people ready for a one man show. MC Chris was in a great mood too for a guy who, from his blogs on MySpace, has not exactly been having the greatest Warped Tour debut. In between songs he admitted to getting tickets to see Batman:The Dark Knight for an opening night event and invited every single fan to join him to see it if they too were lucky enough to get a ticket too at a nearby theater. There were a lot of jealous people in the crowd with me being one of them. Regardless MC Chris dished out his nerdcore with plenty of crowd participation.
The Gainesville Florida act Against Me! was another band I have enjoyed previously and took some time out of my day to see live again. Ripping through old and new material like "Trash Unreal" and every single fan seemed to sing along to all of the songs or at least pretend to. It was a killer set and one of the highlights of my day because these guys sound amazing live. They are one of the hottest acts on the tour, no pun intended, and the amount of fans that gathered to see them proved it.
The Bouncing Souls hit the Route 66 (main) stage around 6pm. The cover of the Misfit’s “Hybrid Moments” was entertaining but not nearly as entertaining as Greg Attonito’s interesting attire. "Lean on Sheena" and "Private Radio" sounded great but still I was not that impressed with their set.
To my disapproval the Horrorpops played the Hurley.Com stage without their memorable go-go dancers but from what I have learned dancers Mille and Kamilla Vanilla had their own obligations this year. The set was not as entertaining because of the lack of the dazzling dancers but the Denmark rockabilly group was amazing. Patricia Day looked beautiful as ever with her gigantic stand up bass at her side and Nekroman was daunting as ever (very friendly guy though).
