Concert Review: Pat Benatar at the Loudoun Summer Music Fest, August 2007 - Page 2

Towards the end of the first set, my wife and I left our lawn chairs, which were positioned at binoculars distance from the stage, and took a stroll all the way up to the edge of the Gold Circle seating area, just in time to witness the tremendous "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Hell Is For Children," and "Heartbreaker" trilogy that closed out the set. What a world of difference it made being close up enough to feed off the fun and energy that Pat and Neil were projecting into the crowd.

Benatar's amazing voice still sounds as good as ever, and her hubby's underrated guitar work takes these songs to a whole new level live. What an awesome team. After a few minutes of wild applause from the worshipping fans, the band returned to the stage for two more songs, "Promises In The Dark," and "Love Is A Battlefield" to complete their incredible 90-minute show.

If any of you old Pat Benatar fans were still wondering whether she and Neil can still deliver the goods, let me lay those thoughts to rest - they can! And they certainly did this night in Ashburn, Virginia.

what a great review and I agree, GO was an excellent cd and when she performs the title song, she blows the roof off of the place.

Thanks Bill. I really enjoyed the Go songs they played on the DVD. I hear she and Neil are working on a new acoustic album. Should be interesting.

Go was a disappointment. Did nothing but make me want to shut it off. From the lack of sales, I'm not alone in this. Love Pat but Go was flatter than flat and was sung equally as flat and its lyrics sounded as if an 8th grader wrote them. Working with Neil maybe a plus in one way for our girl but its a thorn in another way. He doesn't stretch her enough. Or maybe she's just too tired to tear away from the old tunes and rock again. After numerous yrs. wouldn't you think she'd be tired of singing those same songs nite after nite? NO offense however, this duo is in need of a fresh producer. Go, took 5yrs?-overkill.
