I opted to skip Phish to get a head start on my voyage home and I was not the only one as I was stuck in a traffic jam for over an hour. Later in the evening I found out that the closing Phish show was something I maybe should have stuck around for seeing how Bruce Springsteen took the stage. I guess you win some and you lose some. I know I was happy with the shows I checked out. My Bonnaroo was complete.
To each their own when it comes to Bonnaroo, and that is the beauty of it. You are free to do what you want all weekend, see who you want to see, and most importantly be yourself. I was excited to drive there and even more so excited to walk the grounds. I felt as if I was at a music summer camp with almost 80,000 other people.
The flow this year seemed much better than when I went to my first Bonnaroo in 2006. This year there were a few water stations in Centeroo offering free drinking water to anyone who had a usable container. The food was not too over-priced and the actual campground was not out of control or anything of that nature. It was a good vibe all over the farm this year. Everyone had a great time.
Props to all of the people behind Bonnaroo for continuing to make everything run smoothly and safe in 2009. There were hardly any problems and everyone seemed to be happy minus a few grumpy souls wandering the grounds. This year's Bonnaroo was a great experience to be a part of and I will never forget it. Sure, it had a toll on my body and sometimes I think I am getting too old for stuff like this but at the same time I am thrilled to have been a part of such an important event.
