Despite the somewhat rough production qualities, I've been enjoying the self titled album from Mutual Admiration Society. It is so good to hear Glen Phillips' beautiful vocals again. I'm actually quite happy about the sound of this album. It really isn't rough, it just sounds like they came over to my living room for six days and recorded an album. Oh wait, that's exactly what they did (minus my living room). This is an album for all Nickel Creek and Toad fans. I do have a few complaints: Chris Thile had ample oppurtunity to get nasty on the mandolin, but we only get to hear a whisper of his talent. The other is that just as you get into the album, your CD player stops...it's over. But go out and get this album. Support your local music retailers.
