If you like your ska a bit quirky but rather clever, then this 12 song CD should be right up your ally. This is the reason independent releases exist. Definitely something to slap on the next time you and your mates have had a few too many and are looking for something original.
Tommy Emmanuel: The Mystery
An Aussie guitarist who plays instrumental music sounds like a recipe for boredom for non-guitar muses. You are mostly right, however "Walls" sung with his girlfriend Liz is a great slab of country-folk. Unusually for an artist who normally plays instrumentally, singing is a very bad idea.
It turns out Emmanuel has a cracking voice that should be taken out and aired far more often. "Walls" could easily be a huge hit on the US country charts. Yes, it's that good. Let's hope a bit of success with this tune will encourage him to have more singing on his records. Even extremely well played (and it is) guitars get tedious after 7 or 8 tracks. Guitarists will love this guy; the rest of us might want to give it a miss.
Alas, nothing new on the digital front. However Dodgeblogium has ventured into podcasting and I am the host of a new weekly show that is um...eclectic. The show will feature at least one track of new music. Next week we are featuring a track by Perry Benson called "Englerland."
Alright that is your lot for the week. It's an interesting collection of tunage. Next week it will be a mostly instrumental collection ranging from acid-jazz-prog from Canada, though normal prog to creepy symphonic stuff.
As per normal, stay safe and keep rocking.
