CD/DVD review: Hall & Oates live

'Live in Concert'
Hall & Oates
(SPV)

This in the first live collection from the uber-successful pop/white soul duo. They are, in fact, the most successful recording duo ever. You have all their hits on here including 'Maneater', 'Private Eyes' and 'I Can't Go for That'. Bonus tracks on the DVD (included with all the normal bells and whistles) include 'Family Man' and 'Kiss on my List'. It is impressive just how good these guys are after so many years, especially Daryl Hall, who is in wonderful voice. It surprised me how many of these tracks I knew the words to. If you are a H&O's fan this is an essential purchase. I would argue that it comes close to that for anyone who enjoys pop-rock-soul or grew up in the 80s. This is a great stuff and makes for quite an enjoyable 113 minutes.

They're "the most successful recording duo ever"? I'd argue that, but come to think of it, there aren't all that many recording duos, so I believe it. Who's the competition, Sonny and Cher?

    Simon & Garfunkel.
