CD Review: Various Artists: A Taste of Christmas

After reviewing A Taste of Christmas it is abudently clear that only a limited number of people would enjoy it. If you enjoy listening to punk, alternative and/or emo style of music this CD will be very appealing to you.

There's not a lot of familiar, cozy, singalong music on this CD. You won't be ditching the Nat King Cole or Bing Crosby CDs. In fact the CD does not sound much like Christmas at all. Instead it is a steady beat of the angry punk sounds of the genre.

There was only one song that I actually enjoyed and that was the very first song and "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" by a sincere Bert McKracken of The Used backed by the noble Street Drum Corps (an indie-rock supergroup of percussionists who started as entertainment for disabled kids), originally written by the Beatles, John Lennon. However, I must say, Skindred's metal-reggae "Jungle Bells" is pretty awesome.

All in all, the album is a great listen for its musical style, but as a Christmas album it is a complete dud.
