"Rabies (from the Dogs of Love)" is described in the linear notes as a "reflection on the evils of the "Clap" and the inconvenience of consequent visit to the Praed Street clinic". It's a gritty song with Strummer barking out the words perfectly.
The first live track on the album is "Shake Your Hips", originally a Slim Harpo song. The roughness of the song, as is the case with all the live tracks, only adds to the excitement of the song and makes you wish you could go back in time and witness this musical genius in the flesh.
Pre-Clash Clash songs can even be found on this gem of an album. Track 14 on Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited, "Lonely Mother's Son", became "Jail Guitar Doors", the B-side of the "Clash City Rockers" single. Track 17, "Junco Partner" would later be recorded with the Clash for Sandinista.
Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited is a true testament to the talent and passion of Joe Strummer.
